What about Plasma TVs? :

Plasma HDTV screens are one of the newer technologies that allow much brighter and clearer television viewing than was ever possible with the old cathode ray tube monitors that have been in use for many years. Since high definition TV signals are quickly becoming the norm as more and more TV stations switch over to broadcasting in that format, it only makes sense to take full advantage of the newer technology and get a display that will match the capabilities of the HD signal.

Plasma TVs use a technology that essentially lights up the whole screen at the same time, making for a very smooth viewing experince, especially when watching fast moving programs like sports events. Unlike LCD displays the plasma TVs can be very large and still not be prohibitively expensive. Perhaps not up to the sizes of the super projection TVs, but up to 60" or so anyway.

There has been some discussion about plasma TVs not lasting very long, but it all has to be put into context. Whereas an LCD TV may last about 75,000 hours, plasma TVs typically last for about 50,000 hours of viewing. However if you watched televsion for 8 hours a day every day that would still take almost 15 years for it to finally be unusable. Most likely you would be buying another television set long before a plasma display was not working anymore. So the bad rap about longevity is just not deserved.
