Find out the facts about LCD HDTV :
LCD HDTVs are high definition enabled television sets that use an LCD monitor to display the picture. High definition is the form of digital signal that is received and processed by the TV tuner and the LCD screen is the part of the television that is what you actually watch.
LCD TVs use a completely different method of producing the actual TV image than most other competing technologies. It has it's advantages and also it's drawbacks in some cases, and as long as you are aware of both you can make a smart, well-informed decision on which LCD HDTV to buy.
LCD uses a technology that allows the screen to be very flat and that is why it has been used for computer monitors for some time now. One of the big advantages of LCDs is that they can be mounted almost anywhere, even on the wall or ceiling. Because they are so thin, they can fit in smaller spaces very easily and be a great solution for someone who has limited space.
The LCD picture is beautiful too, and produces stunningly radiant color renditions. If you have seen an LCD computer monitor, you have no doubt observed the impressive color saturation that LCDs are capable of. One thing to be aware of though is that viewing an LCD screen is usually best within a fairly narrow angle of view, so if you have a wide room expect picture quality to suffer as your viewing angle increases.
The main disadvantage of the LCD TV is that it tends to get very expensive in larger sizes and so most of the time, you won't find LCD screens available in the really big screen TVs. If space is a major consideration for you though, this shouldn't present much of a problem anyway, and there are many LCD HDTVs available up to 40" in size. If you decide on getting an LCD TV be sure to also include the stand or mounting hardware in the cost as that can sometimes reach $100-$200 by itself.
